Happy Earth Day!

There is only 1 Earth.

Globally it is our collective responsibility to protect it. We get 1 chance.

Our association has operated with this in mind since our inception in 1976, including mandates within our organization that continuously work on understanding all aspects of how we can affect change for the betterment of our industry here in Canada and align all our members.

Educational Awareness: We continue our related mandate to educate consumers on why their choices matter, how natural materials are eco-friendly and sustainable, define key components of this wonderful recyclable resource and what establishes actions for transparency and change.

Everyone in the world is a consumer.

Everyone can establish new actions and new choices that will make a difference.

Down and Feather is a natural by-product of the food industry, if it wasn’t reused and repurposed as a natural fill material, it would be a waste product of the food industry.

Down and Feather has been proven to have less of an impact than polyester in these five tested areas: human health, ecosystems, resources, cumulative energy demand and climate change.

On a per ton basis, down has between 85% - 97% lower impacts than polyester in all the impact categories analyzed, and has 18 times less of an impact on climate change than polyester fill.

Long Trail Sustainability are experts in product stewardship. They published these third-party test results in May 2019 as a life cycle assessment in terms of the environmental footprint of down. They were tasked with this independent study by the International Down and Feather Bureau.
