Down fill material has a 92% lower impact than Polyester does on Human Health

When you purchase a warm down jacket for wearing on a cold winter’s day, or you choose to sleep under a down duvet at night, you have made a great decision! Your choice is not only more thermal for you but you are also choosing a material that is better overall for the environment!

That’s because the use of natural down and feather material as a fill has fewer environmental impacts when compared to alternative materials such as a polyester fill.

The International Down and Feather Bureau (IDFB) is our down and feather industry international organization where all world-wide companies and country associations gather to work together on getting consumers the best information and working on improving testing standards for high quality, sustainable materials.

The IDFB engaged an independent 3rd party to complete an analysis to measure the impact on human health that down and polyester materials have on human health from ionizing radiation, human toxicity, ozone depletion and other factors.

It has been confirmed that down had 92% less impact than polyester in the human health category.

Choose down and feather fill for your products and you will be choosing the healthier option for the planet.
